I had a bit of a soft spot for the spy film and romantic comedy (no, I don’t consider them just as chick Flick). In fact I think a lot of us. So what would happen if you put the two together? Well, if This means War is something to go, then what will come out of this combination is a film so-so who has time, but ultimately failed to leave a big impression.
After a CIA agent FDR (Chris Pine) and Tuck (Tom Hardy) get kicked big case for less than their secret tactics, which both turned out his eyes with her love. Through an online dating service, she met Lauren (Reese Witherspoon), a young woman who also happens to start focusing on his own love life. Although the two pillars of fantastic, FDR unwittingly began dating Lauren too. After two friends find their predicament, they begin to “gentlemen’s challenge” to see who becomes his girlfriend s while Lauren was trying to decide between the two. Things get intense as both the FDR and Tuck began using special training against each other, using everything from drones to spy sniper rifle-shooting a tranquilizer.
One might notice that I talk a bit about the “big cases” FDR and Tuck in. This is because the film puts a bit of focus on it, even though it withdrew from the main character builds it up. At the end, I didn’t know who was Heinrich (Til Schweiger) or what he was after. Instead, the spy elements from this film are used primarily to provide an extra edge with the love triangle story. Of course, this still works in a variety of cases, such as when men are secretly plants a camera in Lauren’s House without seeing each other, but I want to see more about this agency organization and motivation. It might even make the Government funded the CIA became the pawns of ignorance in a bit of “gentlemen’s challenge is” easier to swallow.
The romantic aspect of comedy This means war did a little better. Every date they continued to have at least one moment that made me truly laugh, from dog too aggressive at a shelter may be the most hardcore paintball game I’ve ever seen. And as a love triangle gone, it’s quite effective in giving viewers a good reason to root for one person or another. I did, however, get very annoyed with Lauren hypocrisy not intentional as he complained about her ex-boyfriend cheated on her while secretly dating two different people.
Acts of the main cast is solid, but not a supporting role. Pine and Hardy did a fine job in the vicinity and has some pretty good delivery, and Witherspoon gives a good performance though characters get my nerves at times. The rest are either forgotten or actors, in the case of Chelsea Handler as Lauren’s friend, blatantly annoying. I get it, she’s supposed to be a mother drunk with dirty minds, but I do not need to be drilled into my head whenever he is on screen.
