Starting in October, studios like Warner Bros., Sony Corp. and Comcast Corp. Universal had sold on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on a standard that allows users to record their purchases online and play the movie for some devices.
Monday’s announcement represented the first time the movie file to be played on UltraViolet television normally without the need to put the disc player physically.
